For this year’s Oscar’s Review Show, The Beta Report is going host-less, too. So this is an hour long episode of just silence. SIKE. We’re breaking down all of the surprises and snubs, the familiar and the refreshingly unfamiliar awards and choices. We also span the entire pantheon of Oscar winners and pick our #1 Favorite Best Picture Winner of all Time!
All that and so much more on this week’s episode of The Beta Report.
We’re all saddened by the sudden—yet expected—news that The Punisher and Jessica Jones are now officially cancelled. The general consensus is that they’ll more than likely return on Disney’s streaming service, Disney+ due out later this year (presumably in the fall). So, with Disney making a push at the streaming service game and Hulu as well as Amazon Prime releasing great original content, is Netflix a sinking ship doomed to go under? Is there enough original content on Netflix’s roster to keep you on their service? Are they doing a good enough job of supplementing what’s leaving with something as good and/or better? The Beta Boys tackle all these questions and more, including a review of one of those original series: The Umbrella Academy.
Plus another New Tune Tuesday, on Thursday…except on Friday. All that an so much more on this week’s episode of The Beta Report.
Seldom do we take the time to honor the men who shaped our country and liberated us from the oppressive tyranny of foreign and domestic threats…to a degree. Yes, these men aren’t perfect and some aren’t even competent, but what they undeniably are, are the building blocks for compelling and entertaining movie characters. With that said, in honor of President’s Day, The Beta Boys give you the TOP 3 American Movie Presidents. You’ll be surprised at some of our choices.
Also, we play a little game called “Who Said It?” featuring none other than the inspiration for many movie characters—good and bad—President Donald Trump and a slew of movie villains, cartoon characters, and celebrities. “God Bless America, and nowhere else!”
Love is blind, but you don’t have to be when it comes to your Valentine’s Day movie choices. Love comes in many forms, so we wanted to celebrate 7 unconventional choices that will hopefully get the flames of love burning with your date. The Beta Bros also uncover a hidden in plain sight love virtuoso. You’ll be shocked to find out which group of films by the same director, we believe are the epitome of unorthodox romance movies.
Jay also offers a few choices that you may want to stay away from if you wish to really impress your date. HINT: Stay away from anything that has an MMA fighter as its star or has the word “Darkness” in its tile. You’re welcome. All that and so much more, on this week’s episode of The Beta Report.
This episode is Sicko Mode, is gonna be Sicko Mode, is going Sicko Mode….??? We honestly have no idea how to use this word. Our age is definitely showing here. But, thankfully, we booked some teenage experts aka The KON’s kids, to walk us through the proper way of using: “Sicko Mode”. And old meets new, as The Beta Boys dust off some TBR classics with a new edition of GO/NO GO (The Prodigy & The Lego Movie 2) and A STREAM COME TRUE where we try to narrow down all of the HULU, Netflix, Amazon Prime shows or movies you should be watching.
Plus, another New Tune Tuesday, on Thursday…Except on Friday. I’m sure you can guess what song we’re using.
To the most homicidal iteration of Batman we’ve ever seen…we bid you farewell. As we say goodbye to Ben Affleck, our cleft chin crusader, we ask the one question on everyone’s mind: So, who’s next? Who can or should step into the cape and cowl and be the next Batman?
We also step into another dimension, where time stops and TV shows no longer get rebooted. The Beta Boys react to Jordan Peele’s upcoming reboot of the horror/sci-fi classic The Twilight Zone. There’s also a report about LOST getting the reboot treatment. But, do we need it though? We take a look at the upcoming reboots and we also offer up some of our suggestions for some reboots that we’d love to see. All that and so much more, on this week’s episode of The Beta Report.
Ladies and Gentlemen, The Beta Report is proud to present…THE RANDOM TOPIC GENERATOR. [Cue cheesy game show music!!!]
The Beta Bros wanted to shake things up this episode. Instead of having a set agenda, we took several random topics that we each wanted to talk about, through them into our high-tech Random Topic Generator, and just let it rip! It goes from Joker to Candyman and Ted Bundy to…Miss Bala?!?! This show is going to be bonkers.
In case you guys haven’t heard, GLASS has made more than $100 Million Dollars in the box office to date. It only took $20 Million to make. That’s insane! But, it is good though? Did we really need this trilogy 18 years after Unbreakable first burst onto the scene? And the twists…were they effective or is it all just played out now? The Beta Bros take a deep dive into M. Night Shyamalan’s introspection of the superhero genre to give you guys their impressions, likes, and dislikes.
We also talk about Glass’ main competition last weekend with the return of our favorite gun wielding vigilante Frank Castle in Netflix’s The Punisher, Season 2. Jay also gives his thoughts on the third season of the HBO thriller: True Detective. Its a packed show!
Plus, the return of the New Tune Tuesday, on Thursday…except when its on Friday! All of this, and so much more on today’s episode of The Beta Report.
The 2019 Oscar nominations were revealed this week. Movies ranging from Netflix Originals to the powerhouse studio mainstays were all well represented in every category of this year’s noms. But, none more surprising than Black Panther receiving a Best Picture nomination. Will Oscar trade his gold for vibranium and award Marvel’s smash hit with Hollywood’s highest honor? Would an Oscar win lend any further validity to comic book movies as not just “good fun” but also great films? The Beta Bros discuss this year’s nerd-filled Oscar nominations and discuss whether Hollywood is finally acknowledging comic book movies as culture defining films.
We talk all this and so much more on this week’s episode of The Beta Report.
No, this isn’t the Beta Report’s new NBA-centric podcast about great rebounders in NBA history. It’s just a clever title. Although, that would be a pretty great idea. File away for later (Patent Pending)…This is however one of those moments where the universe just aligns things for you perfectly and you have no choice but to bring it to light: Punisher+Glass=Jigsaw…this stuff writes itself!
Anyway, on today’s episode the Beta Boy’s preview two of their most anticipated releases of 2019: The Punisher Season 2 and M. Night Shyamalan’s GLASS! There are a lot of things on the line for these two releases, like is M. Night Shyamalan’s resurgence for real or is he destined to fall back into mediocrity? And, is The Punisher the next Marvel Netflix show in the cancellation cross-hairs no matter how great it is? We answer all of these questions and give our thoughts regarding the poor reviews and terrible Rotten Tomatoes score GLASS has right now…35%!!! YIKES.
All that and so much more on this Friday edition of The Beta Report.
Spider-Man: Far From Home has just released its first trailer. Just in time for The Beta Report to rip it to shreds and give you every little detail you might have missed, like: Is Mysterio a wizard from Kamar Taj, where Dr. Strange also learned his magic? Is that the Spider-Noir suit? Is this a different Spider-verse? We also build up a few theories, re-work timelines, and travel to different dimensions…SUPER NERD STUFF! We’re getting all up in it. Any questions you might have, I’m sure we’ve got the answers. We’ve got all that and so much more, on this week’s episode of The Beta Report.

To the man, the myth, the legend…this episode is dedicated to the late great Stan Lee. Listen as The Beta Bros talk about the legend’s life and his impact on popular culture.
I guess one person, can make a difference.
‘Nuff said.
Its dead. Its gone. Its not like the zombies on TV. This time, what’s dead, stays dead…or will it? In all honesty, The Walking Dead has been a little stale for quite sometime now. As Uno so eloquently put it, off the air: “The premise is, stay alive. After 7 years, it gets old.” And while true, this premise has been a little tired, what made TWD so compelling were its characters and not their specific circumstances. Enter Judith Grimes! Can she be enough for fans to once again loyally scavenge and survive week to week like we did before? The Beta Bros dissect the current state of The Walking Dead and AMC’s current plan to send Rick Grimes on a three part movie adventure away from his new zombie slaying family.
Plus, we got a brand new PICK OF THE WEEK and a re-visit of last week’s New Tune Tuesday on Thursday featuring Adam Cruz’s “Role Modelz Wanted”. All that and so much more, on this week’s episode of The Beta Report.

Will The Jackson 5 moonwalk past The Temptations as The KON’s top pick? Check out this week’s episode to find out.
