We’re all saddened by the sudden—yet expected—news that The Punisher and Jessica Jones are now officially cancelled. The general consensus is that they’ll more than likely return on Disney’s streaming service, Disney+ due out later this year (presumably in the fall). So, with Disney making a push at the streaming service game and Hulu as well as Amazon Prime releasing great original content, is Netflix a sinking ship doomed to go under? Is there enough original content on Netflix’s roster to keep you on their service? Are they doing a good enough job of supplementing what’s leaving with something as good and/or better? The Beta Boys tackle all these questions and more, including a review of one of those original series: The Umbrella Academy.
Plus another New Tune Tuesday, on Thursday…except on Friday. All that an so much more on this week’s episode of The Beta Report.
Ladies and Gentlemen, The Beta Report is proud to present…THE RANDOM TOPIC GENERATOR. [Cue cheesy game show music!!!]
The Beta Bros wanted to shake things up this episode. Instead of having a set agenda, we took several random topics that we each wanted to talk about, through them into our high-tech Random Topic Generator, and just let it rip! It goes from Joker to Candyman and Ted Bundy to…Miss Bala?!?! This show is going to be bonkers.
In case you guys haven’t heard, GLASS has made more than $100 Million Dollars in the box office to date. It only took $20 Million to make. That’s insane! But, it is good though? Did we really need this trilogy 18 years after Unbreakable first burst onto the scene? And the twists…were they effective or is it all just played out now? The Beta Bros take a deep dive into M. Night Shyamalan’s introspection of the superhero genre to give you guys their impressions, likes, and dislikes.
We also talk about Glass’ main competition last weekend with the return of our favorite gun wielding vigilante Frank Castle in Netflix’s The Punisher, Season 2. Jay also gives his thoughts on the third season of the HBO thriller: True Detective. Its a packed show!
Plus, the return of the New Tune Tuesday, on Thursday…except when its on Friday! All of this, and so much more on today’s episode of The Beta Report.
No, this isn’t the Beta Report’s new NBA-centric podcast about great rebounders in NBA history. It’s just a clever title. Although, that would be a pretty great idea. File away for later (Patent Pending)…This is however one of those moments where the universe just aligns things for you perfectly and you have no choice but to bring it to light: Punisher+Glass=Jigsaw…this stuff writes itself!
Anyway, on today’s episode the Beta Boy’s preview two of their most anticipated releases of 2019: The Punisher Season 2 and M. Night Shyamalan’s GLASS! There are a lot of things on the line for these two releases, like is M. Night Shyamalan’s resurgence for real or is he destined to fall back into mediocrity? And, is The Punisher the next Marvel Netflix show in the cancellation cross-hairs no matter how great it is? We answer all of these questions and give our thoughts regarding the poor reviews and terrible Rotten Tomatoes score GLASS has right now…35%!!! YIKES.
All that and so much more on this Friday edition of The Beta Report.
Venom is officially in theaters and we have the perfect preview for you before you head out to watch it. We also break down whether the rumors are true…Is the incredible Woody Harrelson really going to be….You’re going to have to listen to find out.
The Beta Bros also search through Netflix and Amazon to offer up their scary edition of a Stream Come True. BUT!!!! You’ll be truly terrified at Gabe’s horrifying choice currently stalking you on HULU. Listen to find out what twisted streaming torture may be slithering into your living room right now!
Finally, TBR throws out the PICK OF THE WEEK and replaces it with their first ever: COMPROMISE OF THE WEEK. Fellas, you’re welcome. Plus, another New Tune Tuesday, on Thursday.
It might be coincidental, or clearly scientific, and perhaps a bit mystical, regardless of how you’d like to classify it, one thing remains true: THE BETA REPORT EFFECT IS REAL! They've often joked about the power of the TBR Effect, but now even we are beginning to believe it. The Beta Bros react to the astonishing ways The Effect has worked its entertainment magic in so many ways this week. From the sudden swell of Joaquin Phoenix as The Joker images and videos flooding our streams, to The House with a Clock in its Walls hitting the top spot on the TOP 5, we’ve developed the Midas Touch and we’d like to share the wealth.
The KON also reacts to a movie he may or may not have seen, as a brand new Bumblebee Trailer buzzed its way onto the internet. Plus, there are some creepy things going on in the TBR studio today…and Jay blames The Nun! Listen to find out if The Beta Bros made it out of this episode alive.
From Allie and Noah in the Notebook, to Jim and Pam from The Office, some Movie and TV romances are too good to be make-believe. There are some timeless love stories in movies and television that transcend the confines of our screens and nestle deep in the warmest, most cuddliest parts of our hearts. We watch them and dwell on them, but then realize, its not real. But, what if, they weren't fake? What if, our favorite movie/TV romances could magically slip out of the screen, and just like the story of Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves actually getting married on the set of Dracula, their onscreen tales of love were actually, real? If this were the case, The KON and Jay give their favorite movie couples they wish could come true.
And, what's a good relationship without a few romantic rendezvous? A lovers getaway? A mid-summer soiree? Well, have no fear, because The Beta Bros have a few museum recommendations that will breath life into any love affair..while also satiating your hunger for adventure and excitement in the new world of dark tourism. There's nothing more romantic than the museum of ventriloquist dummies, Mexican mummy's, or Toilets in India! We got all this and so much more, on this week's episode of The Beta Report.
There's no better way to prime your way to the weekend than a little Cardi B and your favorite Podcast hosts trying to sing the words to a song they don't know. Let's get it!
Nothing says Cardi B and the weekend more than...Disney movies? That's right, from Cardi B to Disney Princesses to Live Action Disney Classic Remakes, this episode has a little bit of everything, for everyone. We discuss the new wave of female representation in Disney movies and we also give our first impressions of the live action Mulan movie and the first look at the titular character that was recently released.
Plus, as always, we have a killer new batch of recommendations for this week's PICK OF THE WEEK, and so much more.
Our last episode was all for the fellas. It was mustaches and fist reloads. But today, we got a little something for the ladies! That's right, TBR is singing all their way to Greece with Special Guest, Claudia Ruano who reviews the ABBA extravaganza musical Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. WARNING: There will be MAJOR SPOILERS! Is that, a ghost?
Jay also gives his review of the new Disney movie Christopher Robin. This heartwarming tale tackles some major issues about adulthood, vocation, happiness and imagination. Does Disney have another classic on their hands? Also, The KON shares his final thoughts on Mission Impossible: Fallout. Is it time for Tom Cruise to hang it up? Tune in to find out the answers to all of these questions.
We got all this and so much more, on this week's episode of The Beta Report.

Never has a King done more for his people than our very own King of the Nerds. In no place in time has a royal put in as many hours in sheer consumption of entertainment to ensure that his subjects are safe from boring, ill advised, or just flat out terrible shows or movies than The KON. This week, The KON decrees his reviews on two highly anticipated premieres: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom & Marvel's Luke Cage Season 2. He talks about the good, the bad, and the bland...are Marvel's Netflix shows getting a little, stale? Click the play button and find out.
The Beta Bro's also dive into a little Steven Seagal (Mixed Martial Arts Master?), a new TOP 5 and as always, there's a new top-rope-slobber-knocking-leg-drop PICK OF THE WEEK. All that and so much more, on this week's episode of The Beta Report.
I think we can all relate with the title. For years, Pixar has figured out new and exciting ways to make us cry...and we love it! Whether its 30 minutes of robots lovingly musing and not speaking a word, introducing a couple's love and heartbreak in the first 10 minutes of a film, or allowing us to share one final emotional moment with our favorite toys. If Pixar movies don't make you feel a certain way by the end of each movie...you might want to check your pulse! So, with The Incredibles 2 shattering records and taking hold of the box office's top spot, The Beta Bros, The KON and Jay, offer up their 5 favorite Pixar movies. The results might make you un poco loco. They also offer up their 5 LEAST favorite Pixar movies, which was actually harder to do than expected.
They also have a brand new TOP 5 box office list with a brief Incredibles 2 review by Jay, a brand new bullet proof choice in this week's STREAM COME TRUE, and a new savage PICK OF THE WEEK comes roaring through. All that and so much more, on this week's episode of The Beta Report.
Never mind the clickbait title, I think there is some truth to this. In one corner, there is a family of heroes that waited 14 years to release a sequel. In the other, we have a team of heroes who became a family, that spent 10 years doing nothing but releasing sequels. And, though we've grown up with both groups, there is a certain fondness for The Incredibles that is nestled deep in my Pixar loving heart. Knowing what Toy Story 3 was able to emotionally pull from me, I can already tell that The Incredibles can, and undoubtedly will, do the same. So, can The Incredibles be better films than The Avengers movies? Listen to find out!
So, on today's show, we dive into this week's GO/NO GO, which of course is: The Incredibles 2. We also break down this week's TOP 5, including the twisted and wholly terrifying new horror classic, Hereditary. Jay also gives his quick Ocean's 8 review. Make sure and stay tuned to this week's blog to read his full review. Finally, we have a brand new Trailer Park. All that and so much more, on this week's episode of The Beta Report.
The Beta Report has a packed show today. The KON has seen Deadpool 2 and he does a deep dive into the movie and gives his SPOILERY review. They also preview this weeks only GO/NO GO option, Solo: A Star Wars Story. The boys break down this movie and let you know what to expect and whether this is actually going to be good. Have expectations kind of turned the tide for TBR? Plus, Jay offers up his Willow/Solo parallels and how Young Val Kilmer is the key to Solo's success. Go read Jay's new blog to learn more about his theory.
And, finally, what you've all been waiting for, The Beta Report has your exclusive interview with the legendary Wookie warrior, Chewbacca! We are excited to have him on the show and he offers a lot of interesting information regarding his co-star Harrison Ford, and he also talks about his other acting jobs that you might not be aware of. So much good stuff! Plus, we have another TOP 5, plus a brand new batch of PICKS OF THE WEEK. All that and so much more on this weeks episode of The Beta Report.
Special guest Jorge Valdes sits down with us to talk about his first Young Adult Novel Series, Magnus Manheart: The 5 Staffs of Justice. We also talk about Magnus Manheart and how it evolved from a father's promise, to a 250 page story, to his future plans of making this the next great book-to-film-adaptation since Harry Potter.
We also have a brand new Top 5, with an exclusive review of Sherlock Gnomes by the talented, insightful, and breathtakingly beautiful Hazel Mae Ruano. A fresh GO/NO GO and a new PICK OF THE WEEK from all of the guys and special guest Jorge Valdes.
