No More Disney...For Now! The Non-Disney Episode

Lets all just take a collective deep breath…Ok, so Disney really does own everything doesn’t it? We’ve heard the cries of the people, we understand that we focus a lot on Marvel, Disney, Star Wars, etc….but can you blame us? That is all stuff that is currently going on in the world today. Mickey Mouse really is Thanos! So, today, this is our Anti-Disney show. We’re talking about anything and everything that ISN’T DISNEY! From new movies, shows and even other podcasts we think you guys should check out, this show has a little something for everyone’s binging pleasure. Is Netflix a Sinking Ship?

We’re all saddened by the sudden—yet expected—news that The Punisher and Jessica Jones are now officially cancelled. The general consensus is that they’ll more than likely return on Disney’s streaming service, Disney+ due out later this year (presumably in the fall). So, with Disney making a push at the streaming service game and Hulu as well as Amazon Prime releasing great original content, is Netflix a sinking ship doomed to go under? Is there enough original content on Netflix’s roster to keep you on their service? Are they doing a good enough job of supplementing what’s leaving with something as good and/or better? The Beta Boys tackle all these questions and more, including a review of one of those original series: The Umbrella Academy.

The Beta Bros wanted to shake things up this episode. Instead of having a set agenda, we took several random topics that we each wanted to talk about, through them into our high-tech Random Topic Generator, and just let it rip! It goes from Joker to Candyman and Ted Bundy to…Miss Bala?!?! This show is going to be bonkers.

GLASS REVIEW (SPOILER-ISH)

In case you guys haven’t heard, GLASS has made more than $100 Million Dollars in the box office to date. It only took $20 Million to make. That’s insane! But, it is good though? Did we really need this trilogy 18 years after Unbreakable first burst onto the scene? And the twists…were they effective or is it all just played out now? The Beta Bros take a deep dive into M. Night Shyamalan’s introspection of the superhero genre to give you guys their impressions, likes, and dislikes.

We also talk about Glass’ main competition last weekend with the return of our favorite gun wielding vigilante Frank Castle in Netflix’s The Punisher, Season 2. Jay also gives his thoughts on the third season of the HBO thriller: True Detective. Its a packed show!

Punishing the Glass

No, this isn’t the Beta Report’s new NBA-centric podcast about great rebounders in NBA history. It’s just a clever title. Although, that would be a pretty great idea. File away for later (Patent Pending)…This is however one of those moments where the universe just aligns things for you perfectly and you have no choice but to bring it to light: Punisher+Glass=Jigsaw…this stuff writes itself!

Anyway, on today’s episode the Beta Boy’s preview two of their most anticipated releases of 2019: The Punisher Season 2 and M. Night Shyamalan’s GLASS! There are a lot of things on the line for these two releases, like is M. Night Shyamalan’s resurgence for real or is he destined to fall back into mediocrity? And, is The Punisher the next Marvel Netflix show in the cancellation cross-hairs no matter how great it is? We answer all of these questions and give our thoughts regarding the poor reviews and terrible Rotten Tomatoes score GLASS has right now…35%!!! YIKES.

The Beta Report Effect Strikes Again!

It might be coincidental, or clearly scientific, and perhaps a bit mystical, regardless of how you’d like to classify it, one thing remains true: THE BETA REPORT EFFECT IS REAL! They've often joked about the power of the TBR Effect, but now even we are beginning to believe it. The Beta Bros react to the astonishing ways The Effect has worked its entertainment magic in so many ways this week. From the sudden swell of Joaquin Phoenix as The Joker images and videos flooding our streams, to The House with a Clock in its Walls hitting the top spot on the TOP 5, we’ve developed the Midas Touch and we’d like to share the wealth.

From Allie and Noah in the Notebook, to Jim and Pam from The Office, some Movie and TV romances are too good to be make-believe. There are some timeless love stories in movies and television that transcend the confines of our screens and nestle deep in the warmest, most cuddliest parts of our hearts. We watch them and dwell on them, but then realize, its not real. But, what if, they weren't fake? What if, our favorite movie/TV romances could magically slip out of the screen, and just like the story of Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves actually getting married on the set of Dracula, their onscreen tales of love were actually, real? Pixar Movies Make Me Cry

I think we can all relate with the title. For years, Pixar has figured out new and exciting ways to make us cry...and we love it! Whether its 30 minutes of robots lovingly musing and not speaking a word, introducing a couple's love and heartbreak in the first 10 minutes of a film, or allowing us to share one final emotional moment with our favorite toys. If Pixar movies don't make you feel a certain way by the end of each movie...you might want to check your pulse! So, with The Incredibles 2 shattering records and taking hold of the box office's top spot, The Beta Bros, The KON and Jay, offer up their 5 favorite Pixar movies. The results might make you un poco loco. They also offer up their 5 LEAST favorite Pixar movies, which was actually harder to do than expected.

The Incredibles are Better Than The Avengers...

Never mind the clickbait title, I think there is some truth to this. In one corner, there is a family of heroes that waited 14 years to release a sequel. In the other, we have a team of heroes who became a family, that spent 10 years doing nothing but releasing sequels. And, though we've grown up with both groups, there is a certain fondness for The Incredibles that is nestled deep in my Pixar loving heart. Knowing what Toy Story 3 was able to emotionally pull from me, I can already tell that The Incredibles can, and undoubtedly will, do the same. So, can The Incredibles be better films than The Avengers movies? Listen to find out!

Infinity War Trailer: Who Will Die?
