A Decade in Review: Welcome to 2020!

It’s 2020 people! [Fireworks, champagne, that old song no one but Uno really knows the words to…] Its another year, which means a whole new season of The Beta Report. This week we’re taking a look at the last decade and searching deep for all of the Golden Nuggets of the time. We also choose our favorite films and TV shows of the decade. We then flash forward and look at what we’re most looking forward to in 2020 now that there’s no new Star Wars or huge Marvel event film to pull us into the theater this year.

What better way to celebrate Jay’s birthday than with…BABY YODA!!! The Mandalorian on Disney+ has been fantastic so far. Just two episodes in and we’re all enthralled by its immersive and utterly warm and familiar Star Wars feel. But, that might not be because of The Mando himself. There’s a little green bundle of adorable joy that has won the hearts of all the TLJ haters and Star Wars detractors, returning balance to the force and bringing peace to the once maligned Star Wars universe. So, head back to the seedy underbelly of the bounty hunter wold with The Beta Boys as they talk more about The Mandalorian, the future of Star Wars, and of course, itsy-bitsy-beautiful-precious-adorable-little-bundle-of-wonderful Baby Yoda.

DISNEY+ Recommendations & The Mandalorian Review (Spoilers)

Maybe its just the initial gleam and shine of our new toy. Perhaps we’re all just intoxicated by the nostalgic haze of our childhoods digitally laid out on our screens. But, Disney+ is FANTASTIC! Just sitting and scrolling through all of the amazing shows, movies, documentaries, cartoons, original series, etc…GUYS, DISNEY+ IS WORTH EVERY PENNY! The Beta Bros go through the new streaming service and review it from top to bottom. As films shift their gaze towards strong, intelligent, fearless females, we, I, proud father of a budding female hero in the making aka my daughter, i revel in the new of a brand new group of female fighters that Hazel can look up to. Late to The Party, Again! (Stuff we Missed)

As an entertainment podcast its our job…NAY! Our duty, to be well informed and to watch EVERYTHING. Well, that ain’t happening! We got kids! #Toddlers We got regular jobs! #MogulLife And, growing up, Citizen Kane was just the VHS tape in front of Schwarzenegger’s Commando and Conan The Barbarian at our local movie rental spot, Video Max. So, yeah, we missed a few things. Now with streaming networks springing up new shows and movies to watch almost everyday, its hard to keep up with everything that is out. But, we eventually get to them and this episode is dedicated to those shows and movies we were a little late to get to, but highly recommend.

New Trailer Park: Has The Joker Done Enough?

It goes without saying that Joaquin Phoenix’s performance of the Joker looks fantastic. The tense anticipation surrounding this film is reaching meteoric levels, but has this new trailer actually hurt the hype? The Beta Boys dive into the twisted madness of Gotham and the Joker and its latest trailer and try to figure out if the Joker and its promotion has done enough to keep us excited. TBR also recaps all of the great stuff that just dropped at the D23 Expo. From Marvel, to Disney, to Star Wars, the Beta Bros were all thoroughly blown away by all of the announcements that were made in Anaheim, CA.

Are You Safe? Mindhunter Season 2 Review

Are you really safe? After Mindhunter Season 1, this question shouldn’t really be rhetorical. Can we really feel safe after this show let us peek inside the mind of these serial killers as effectively as it did? Ummm, NOPE! Season 2 of Mindhunter is here and The Beta Boys discuss why this show continues to be a Gold Medal/Top Tier Netflix Original.

So, we’re giving him his shine in this episode after another tremendous turn as Billy Butcher on The Boys.
